According to the President of the Council of Europe, Charles Michel, the rapid appointment of judges of the Supreme Court does not fully reflect the results of the consultations.
As Michel said after meetings with the Prime Minister and the opposition, justice reform is a key part of the April 19 agreement and is a precondition for EU macro-financial assistance to Georgia.
"A quick appointment does not fully reflect the results of those consultations. This is a truly missed opportunity. The key is a fundamental human right, the freedom that plays a very big role in relations with the EU. Constitutional right - freedom of the press and expression must be protected. I am pleased that all the signatories to the agreement are fulfilling their obligations," said Charles Michel.
