The epidemic will soon be defeated, and China-Georgia relations passing through the virus outbreak will further develop, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Georgia Li Yan writes in the letter forwarded to Report.ge by the Embassy.

"The Government of China has taken drastic measures since the novel coronavirus outbreak. The population of 1.4 billion stood together, with each and every citizen being involved in combating the epidemic. All these measures have proved productive, and the situation is now under control, with our lives getting back to normal.

China has proved with its actions that the new coronavirus epidemic may be controlled and cured.

Today, China is ready to support Georgia. The Government of China has already decided to provide Georgia with 1,000 unit reactive chemicals for the detection of the coronavirus. Additionally, Sichuan Province of China has gifted Georgia rapid diagnostic tests, with their price amounting to USD 420,000. China will also study the necessity of providing Georgia with other pecuniary and medical assistance.

We have seen that the Georgian Government's response to the virus was swift and efficient in the very beginning: it took the virus seriously, implemented decisive preventative measures, increased control, and timely informed the public on the existing situation. China defines all these measures as positive. I do believe that under the Georgian Government's leadership and through Georgian people's joint efforts, Georgia will contain the epidemic in the short term. China, which is a friend of Georgia, is ready to provide it with due support and assistance.

China will keep sharing its experience with Georgia. In February, at Georgia's request, China forwarded Georgia materials on the virus diagnosis, prevention, and control, detection of the new cases, etc. Later we have repeatedly sent them an updated version of these materials. All this is valuable experience collected in battling the virus, and we do believe that it will significantly assist Georgia in fighting against the virus," Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Georgia, Li Yan writes.

The China-born virus has infected a total of 353,692 people worldwide, with 15,430 been killed by it, and 100,443 recovered.

On 11 March 2020, the WHO declared the novel virus pandemic. Its outbreak in China was in December 2019.

Coronavirus has infected a total of 81,093 in China so far, 3,270 have been killed, and 5,120 recovered.
