"Our partners' full readiness to keep assisting Georgia in passing democratic reforms by continuing active and close cooperation with the Georgian government is critical," Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani wrote in social media after informing the public that he received a response letter from Michael Pompeo, the U.S. Secretary of State.
"Today I received a response letter from U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to my invitation regarding the Monitoring Mission's involvement in the 2020 Parliamentary Elections.
I am glad and grateful to our strategic partner, which is the United States and its Secretary of State, for his immensely positive assessment of the Georgian government's efforts to ensure fair and democratic elections meeting modern standards. I am glad that our strategic partner positively evaluates the government's steps to mobilize international election observers.
I salute our strategic partner's readiness to monitor elections, despite the global pandemic, with its resources at hand, and by attracting volunteers to the OSCE Monitoring Mission.
Our partners' full readiness to keep assisting Georgia in passing democratic reforms by continuing active and close cooperation with the Georgian government is critical.
Partners' similar assessments and our society's readiness is a strong incentive for us to show the world once again that we can hold high-standard democratic elections," Zalkaliani writes.
