"Information saying that the EU intends to abolish visa-free travel with Georgia is a big lie as Georgia has fulfilled its responsibilities perfectly well,'' Georgian Vice-PM and FM, Davit Zalkaliani, said.
In Zalkaliani's words, the last report on Georgia's compliance with the visa liberalization conditions was immensely promising.
''I want to calm everybody down and disappoint those who have enjoyed the news. I know this information exhilarated our opponents. Sadly, our opponents can rejoice at the news of our country's hypothetical failure. However, I want to shatter their hopes by saying that this is a big lie. The corresponding article does not focus on Georgia; it focuses on Moldova and Eastern Balkan countries instead. As for Georgia, the number of its citizens seeking asylums in the EU has dropped by 75%; this implies that the news is a lie, and no threats are posed to Georgia,'' Zalkaliani stressed.
