The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, sent a letter to the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia on Independence Day. In a congratulatory message to the Georgian Prime Minister, the US President emphasized the decades-long strong partnership between the United States and Georgia based on shared values and interests.

"Dear Prime Minister!

On behalf of the American people, I sincerely welcome and congratulate you on Independence Day - May 26!

For decades, the United States and Georgia have been linked by a strong partnership based on shared values and interests. The United States appreciates and respects Georgia's efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities, including its significant contribution to the NATO mission in Afghanistan, where Georgian fighters serve together with US and NATO forces. We strongly support Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. We will continue to support Georgia on its path to NATO. Our partnership continues, and today we are working together in the fight against the global pandemic.

We strongly support Georgia's democratic and economic development, which is essential for Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations. I am looking forward to working with you to help consolidate Georgia's democratic institutions, strengthen political pluralism, and strengthen the rule of law, based on an independent judiciary, and diversify the economy.

I sincerely congratulate the Georgian people and wish them prosperity, a fruitful and secure future," reads the statement by Donald Trump.
