Ex-leader Saakashvili: Are they actually so hopelessly ignorant?

Ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili has released another hospital note, in which he shows his surprise over the government's move to try him for Nov 7 developments.''They based their accusations on as few as two people's testimonies. One of them, Zaza Gogava, publicly states that I had violated no law and the other, Nino Burjanadze, elaborates on 'political accountability' only.

I did not like the Nov 7 developments in the slightest. Moreover, I disliked them so much that I committed a deed done by very few leaders globally _ I reduced my presidential term and scheduled new elections. The Georgian people rendered the verdict then by returning me to the presidential palace. Can you now explain what this government that commenced the Jun 20 and Jul 5 events wants from me? Are they actually so hopelessly ignorant?" the ex-president's letter reads.

Another trial concerning the developments of Nov 7, 2007, is set to be held on Jan 24. Saakashvili faces charges of allowing a mass crackdown on protesters, breaking into the Imedi TV Company, and appropriating late businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili's property. Together with the ex-leader, the charges have been brought against Vano Merabishvili, Zurab Adeishvili, Davit Kezerashvili, and Gigi Ugulava.
