Nika Gvaramia, the lawyer of the third President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, has read his letter in which he addresses rally participants gathered on Freedom Square.

The letter says that Saakashvili's greatest desire is to join the protesters; however, he is unable to do so at this point.

The letter goes on to say that Georgians, who are ancient Europeans, deserve a European country, which they should leave only when they decide to travel, gain education abroad or do business in other countries. ''We should always return to our country as I did.

Why am I in Georgia today? I am here because I cannot be happy even in Ukraine, which has become so familiar to me when I witness so much cruelty and misfortune in my beloved homeland.

I cannot observe unemotionally the brain-drain which my country is experiencing; I cannot watch how the most talented and decent people are leaving their homeland. I cannot be in the role of a bystander when all this is happening here; I had better die than watch this. This is the reason why I am here, and I have decided to stay and do my part in defeating the regime, help the Georgian people fight against poverty, corruption, injustice, and destruction. Together with the Georgian people, we must resist Ivanishvili's regime, which is dragging our Georgia back to Putin's Russia.

We all must point Georgia back to the West and make it the beacon of democracy, reforms, and development,'' the letter reads.
