Carl Hartzell, the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, says that focusing on the health state is mandatory, and the incident which took place during the last 24 hours proves this.
According to Hartzell, the EU approves the activities carried out by the Georgian public defender, including the monitoring of ex-president Saakashvili's state of health and safeguarding his rights.
''In this current situation, it is time that they quit debates and seek the way out of the stalemate by taking the corresponding actions to tackle the existing situation on the basis of the national and international rights and duties,'' the ambassador stated.
Justice Minister Rati Bregadze has offered Mikheil Saakashvili to be moved from the prison facility to the Gori Military Hospital.
Lawyer Beka Basilaia said earlier that ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili collapsed after meeting lawyers and was taken away on a stretcher.
Mikheil Saakashvili, detained on 1 October, has been on a hunger strike for 50 days now.
