Georgian Dream Chairperson Irakli Kobakhidze says that ex-pres. Mikheil Saakashvili is blackmailing his hunger-striking supporters.
''We have verified information that these people declared a hunger strike after their leader had blackmailed them. Nobody is laughing at anybody, but the fact that these 200 people or, whoever knows their precise number, have declared a hunger strike only because their leader is blackmailing them is a tragicomic phenomenon,'' Kobakhidze declared.
UNM members and their supporters went on a hunger strike outside the UNM office.
UNM Chairman Nika Melia said earlier that more than 300 people have already declared a mass hunger strike, with the list of hunger-striking citizens being drawn up.''I am confident many more are yet to be involved in this,'' Melia told Mtavari Arkhi (the Main Channel).
''We are declaring a mass hunger strike today,'' UNM Chairperson Nika Melia said at the Rustaveli rally site.
Melia stressed that the hunger strike will continue before ex-pres. Mikheil Saakashvili is freed.
