Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, stated at the joint press conference with Georgian PM Gharibashvili that the EU is Georgia's trustworthy partner and friend, and Georgia is the EU's top partner.
In Michel's words, he is concerned about the country's political crisis, and he appeals to all parties to unite to hold a political dialogue and diffuse tensions since the recent flare-up.
"My key message is that EU is Georgia's reliable partner and friend, and Georgia is EU's top partner. We share the values related to democracy and the rule of law. My next message is that we stand by you in your fight against COVID-19. You are now going through a tough patch in the region. My final message is that I am deeply concerned about the serious political crisis Georgia faces today. The existing polarization and crisis testify that over the years, Georgia has had achievements and has advanced further under your government, and the current crisis must be overcome thanks to your and the opposition's joint efforts. The polarization must come to an end," Michel stressed.
