Georgia will become the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe starting from today until May 15, 2020.

Georgia will take over France at the meeting of the Council of Europe.

Georgia will receive the symbolic key from France. Amelie de Montchalin, France's Secretary of State in charge of European Affairs, will hand over the symbolic key to Foreign Minister of Georgia.

After delivering the chairmanship, David Zalkaliani will address the Council of Europe and introduce the priorities of Georgia's chairmanship.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Permanent Representatives of the Council of Europe member states will depart from the judicial building of the Council of Europe with a special tram, which is decorated with Georgian alphabet and the logo of the Georgian chairmanship. A flag-raising ceremony will be held afterwards at the Republic Square in Strasbourg. A symbolic ribbon will be cut and the national anthem of Georgia will be performed. The tram, decorated with the Georgian alphabet and the logo of the Georgian chairmanship, will operate in Strasbourg for 6 months.

During this period, Georgia will organize up to 20 events within the framework of the Council of Europe.
