“Europe Day is celebrated in Europe as the day of unity of European peoples and European countries. It relies on the values that create European culture and history. The history of Europe shows that every great challenge, war, or tragedy is followed by new opportunities, a new firmness, new energy. We also share the hope for this peaceful future today, and every May 9,” Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said.

In her words, Europe has shown that Georgia is an essential ally for it and that for Europe, stability, democracy, and progress of Georgia are not empty words, but a tangible goal and task.

“A sign of this is the participation of the top leadership of Europe in overcoming our political crisis. Europe has stood next to us. Our path to Europe is not easy, but we, i.e., the majority of the population of Georgia, know that this is a real way of advancement. I congratulate all our European partners, our European friends, our citizens living in Europe today. This day is our joint holiday,” Salome Zurabishvili said.
