According to the Press Office of the Defence Ministry of Georgia, Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze has hosted U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan.
The high officials reportedly discussed defense and security-related issues and future cooperation prospects. They focused on Georgian and American servicemen's involvement in the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission (RSM) in Afghanistan. Georgia reaffirmed its readiness to keep making its contribution to the international peacekeeping missions.
The parties also discussed the current situation in the region and threats coming from Russia.
They also focused their attention on the successful implementation of the Georgia Defence Readiness Programme (GDRP), Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNGP) initiatives, development of the NATO-Georgian Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC), strengthening of special operation forces, development of cyber defence, and planned joint military exercises in Georgia.
