Georgian Dream calls opposition for dialogue - VIDEO

The Georgian Dream is offering the opposition to continue the dialogue. According to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the party, there is no other alternative.

Mdinaradze thanked the US Embassy for acting as a mediator. According to him, the ruling team joins the US Embassy's concern that the timing of the Court's ruling and sentencing of Gigi Ugulava coincided with a dialogue on the electoral system.

"We want to make it clear that politics cannot be a place of refuge and indulgence for perpetrators. The Georgian Dream's policy is that the state's response to the inappropriate use of taxpayers' money will be extremely harsh and irreconcilable. It is the Georgian Dream that set a high standard in the country regarding illegal dispose of budget funds. Everybody is equal before the law, and our team members are usually first who are held accountable for such crimes," Mdinaradze said.

After the Supreme Court upheld the verdict of Gigi Ugulava, one of the leaders of European Georgia, opposition party leaders refused to negotiate with the ruling party over the electoral system.

The Supreme Court found Gigi Ugulava guilty. The Court sentenced the former Mayor of Tbilisi to three years in prison for embezzling funds.
