According to the decision of the Georgian Dream, Irakli Gharibashvili will be the candidate for the Prime Minister of Georgia. Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairperson of the Georgian Dream, stated about it at the briefing held at the party office after the end of the sittings of the political council and the majority.
"The political council unanimously decided to nominate Irakli Gharibashvili. As you all know, Irakli Gharibashvili is the founder of the Georgian Dream and one of the leaders who held a key position in our country. Initially, he was the Minister of Internal Affairs and then the Prime Minister, and now he holds the position of the Minister of Defense. Major reforms were carried out during his tenure. He is an experienced professional who can successfully lead the government's work and overcome the challenges facing our country. I would like to wish him success. The new composition of the government will be approved as soon as possible," Irakli Kobakhidze said.
Irakli Gharibashvili has already held the post of Prime Minister. He currently heads the Department of Defense.
The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia has resigned. He cited differences in the team over the case of Nikanor Melia as the reason for resignation.
