Georgian Dream Vice-Speaker Gia Volski responded to public defender Nino Lomjaria's yesterday's statement and labeled her as the ''pursuer of the UNM's interests.'' In his words, these people are grasping at straws, seeking some hope in the hopeless situation. ''Their prospects are bleak in the forthcoming elections, which is why they now want to cancel them,'' he stated.
Volski said that the election process would be planned in such a manner that ''COVID-dangers are brought to a minimum. "Considering the current epidemiological situation in the country, elections and its aftermath will be planned so that they are almost entirely dangerless, with COVID-hazards brought to a minimum," he stressed.
Ombudsman said earlier that elections worsen the epidemiological situation, with the country already passing through this ordeal last year.
''When 60-70 citizens die daily, with the country's vaccination rate being low, everything cannot remain open,'' Nino Lomjaria stressed.
