"The elections follow a completely new, more democratic principle. Our main goal is to conduct elections in a calm, peaceful, democratic, open, and transparent mode, and it will be this way. We understand it very well," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said.
''The novel coronavirus pandemic cannot be an obstacle for the elections," he said.
Gakharia reiterated that the government had expected an increase in the number of infections.
He also called on the population to follow the rules.
"In the developed world, nothing is better to prevent the spread of the virus than wearing masks, distance, and followings basic hygiene rules. Thus, we must follow the rules," Gakharia claimed.
