Georgian President extends New Year wishes to public

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has wished the public a Happy New Year.

"We are bidding farewell to 2020! This year has proved one of the hardest years for the entire world, our country, and people. I offer my condolences to everyone who has lost their family members in these tough times. The pandemic has altered the world: crippled economies and closed borders. It has also changed us by instilling fear. However, the pandemic has also shown us that each other's trust, care, and solidarity only can save us. The pandemic has left some things unchanged, though. Our territories remain occupied, and our pain has gone nowhere. The pandemic has made the life of residents of the occupied regions even more difficult and shown us the importance of solidarity and the desire to help each other. These are the means to liberate our territories.

Georgia's main achievement is that, despite these tough times, occupation, and serious regional conflicts, it has maintained stability, self-belief and has repeatedly demonstrated that it is not prone to surrender easily.

I wish you all a Happy New Year and good health, happiness, strong spirit, and success," the President said.
