Georgian President puts forth hate speech-related initiative

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has put forward the initiative to declare a moratorium on hate speech. In Zurabishvili's words, this initiative will strengthen everybody and change the atmosphere in the country.

''I am putting forward an initiative which everyone needs and is the public's requirement, rather than mine. I want to inform other political parties which are not present here of this.

I think it is time to declare the moratorium on hate speech _ this will make people refrain from hate speech, change the atmosphere in the country and make us see each other and our future from a different perspective. This will strengthen us,'' Zurabishvili said.

Georgia President Zurabishvili has held a reception ceremony dedicated to Georgia's 30th anniversary from the restoration of independence at the Orbeliani Palace.
