Georgian State Inspector Londa Toloraia has met with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) head Nick Beresford, who stressed that the State Inspector's Service is the only essential body in the country safeguarding human rights in Georgia and ensuring personal data protection.
Beresford emphasized that similar decisions can be made after large-scale consultations only.
The parliament of Georgia has approved the draft bill on revoking the State Inspector's Service at its first hearing, with 82 approving the bill and 13 voting against it.
