"Gigi Tsereteli will lead the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly for another year," European Georgia informed report.ge.

According to them, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held a meeting of the Main Committee, which discussed the organization's work and plans in the conditions of the pandemic. Due to the pandemic, all scheduled events of the Assembly got postponed, including the annual session in Vancouver, where the presidential and bureau elections should have taken place. Accordingly, Gigi Tsereteli will be the President of the Assembly for another year.

"We had a meeting of the main committee today, and we are trying to make the organization very active. Because our annual session cannot be held, the elections will not take place this year. The decision was made in the OSCE that I will continue my presidency for another year. We will try to use this period to strengthen the organization to do even more in Europe after the post-COVID era to strengthen and secure democracy outside it," Gigi Tsereteli said.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is one of the world's largest parliamentary unions. It includes about 350 parliamentarians from 57 countries. Gigi Tsereteli has been the President of this organization since 2017. He was twice elected by secret ballot in 2018 in Berlin and 2019 in the Luxembourg Assembly session.
