Giorgi Gakharia, the Prime Minister of Georgia and Derek Mitchell, the President of NDI, discussed various directions of NDI activities in Georgia at the meeting in the Government Administration.
The two sides emphasized the high level of US-Georgia strategic partnership during the conversation.
“During the meeting, Gakharia and Mitchell focused on the need for coordinated co-operation during the election year in the country. Discussions focused on the importance of strengthening local self-government and representative bodies and NDI activities in this regard. According to the parties, it is important to reduce the high polarization level during the election. The Prime Minister noted that the 2020 elections would take place following the highest international standards,” reads the released statement.
