Giorgi Gakharia: Our friends in NATO must keep their promise

"More Georgia in NATO and more NATO in Georgia will enhance the Black Sea and West security, as well as Georgia's democracy and growing economy," Giorgi Gakharia, the Prime Minister of Georgia said in an article published in The Washington Times, entitled "Georgia deserves membership in NATO - Country is vital to the geopolitical security of the Black Sea."

The head of the government noted that Georgia would continue to work closely with the United States and other NATO member countries to enhance Black Sea security, which in recent years meant training fighters for NATO operations and expanding NATO and US defenses, including placement of equipment on the territory of Georgia, and frequent joint military exercises.

"The Georgians are right to be proud of their enormous contribution to the transatlantic alliance. Our goal is to demonstrate our connection and deep roots with practical actions. Black Sea security is essential to global peace and stability, and Georgia is a loyal partner. It is for this reason that our friends in NATO must keep their promise regarding Georgia joining the organization," the Prime Minister said.

The press office of the Prime Minister released the translation of the publication.
