A leader of the libertarian Girchi [Geo. Pinecone] party, Vakhtang Megrelishvili, has responded to UNM Chairperson Nika Melia's statement on starting a mass hunger strike.
''The United National Movement, why is it necessary to put hunger-striking citizens in tents in the yard of the huge office?
Cannot they stay warm in the office and refuse to consume food there? Or is the office already overcrowded with hunger-strikers?
I cannot get this. Is it my fault?" Megrelishvili wrote.
''We are declaring a mass hunger strike today,'' UNM Chairperson Nika Melia said at the Rustaveli rally site earlier.
Melia stressed that the hunger strike will continue before ex-pres. Mikheil Saakashvili is freed.
