Head of Georgia's Mission to EU resigns

Head of Georgia's mission to the European Union, Nata Sabanadze, has left the post. Sabanadze wrote a letter of resignation, which Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani has already signed.

Sabanadze announced her decision on social media.

"In just a few months, it will be eight years since I represent Georgia in Brussels and lead our mission in the European Union. It was a great honor and responsibility for me, a task full of both successes and challenges - professional or moral. Today is the time to turn this page.

Georgia's European future is a goal for which I will always fight. I believe in this goal. I think that - not because the EU membership is a panacea, but because it is the only way to preserve our freedom and dignity," she said in her post.
