According to the information spread by the Ministry of Internal Affairs the effort to fight terrorism by the Government of Georgia is positively evaluated in US Department report.

The document reads that Georgia has long been the member of the Global Coalition to fight ISIS and cooperates tightly with the United States in fight against the terrorism. It is also emphasized that Georgia is active in cooperation on regional, international and bilateral levels including such organizations as NATO, European Council, Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization and GUAM.

The law-enforcement and the cross-border security steps undertaken by the government of Georgia in 2018 in the sphere of border, navy and air security through the improvement of legislative base and infrastructure are also positively evaluated in the report. In particular, the positive evaluation was given to the development of the system of passengers’ preliminary data recording according to the UN Security Council resolution 2396; integration of Interpol data into the national cross-border data bases; improved infrastructure of four land frontier sectors with Armenia and Turkey; and implementation of the observation and monitoring systems on the cross-border with Armenia.

It is also mentioned that the USA has presented two Island- class ships to protect the country sea border and the government of Georgia confirmed the new decree for the Center for Joint Navy Operations Management according to which the rules and procedures of information exchange were introduced. The positive evaluation was also given to the counter-terrorism legislation changes according to which the responsibility of the government representatives in the cases under the jurisdiction of foreign countries and the case investigators and procurators are given the right to conduct distance interrogation.

The document reads that Georgia and Europol signed the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding in the issue of secure communication channels in 2018. Georgia, Albania, Moldova and Italy has joined 23 countries and European Union in Agreement of Cooperation.
