The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, held a face-to-face meeting with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, who is in Georgia within the framework of the Batumi International Conference - "Georgia's European Way."

Irakli Gharibashvili thanked Charles Michel for his visit to Georgia and said that Georgia remains a loyal ally of the European Union and an important pillar of democracy in a geopolitically difficult region.

The meeting focused on the positive role of Georgia in the Caucasus. President Michel highlighted the successful mediation of the Prime Minister of Georgia, which resulted in the release of 15 Armenian citizens and the delivery of important maps of the mined territories to Azerbaijan.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the political agreement reached in Georgia with the personal involvement of Charles Michel. The head of government noted that the management team had fulfilled the provisions of the agreement, and the process continues. The conversation focused on the upcoming local elections.

The Prime Minister noted that the government is motivated to hold the elections in a calm, transparent environment and asked President Michel to have as many observers as possible from the EU.
