The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, met with the President of the Congress of Deputies, Meritxell Batet during his visit to Spain.
The main topic of conversation was the relations between the two countries in various fields, including parliamentary activities. During the meeting, the prospects of further steps in parliamentary diplomacy were discussed. In this regard, the issue of organizing a joint forum of economic committees of the legislatures was initiated. The important fact was emphasized that the Kingdom of Spain supports Georgia in all parliamentary assemblies, including the occupied territories, as well as the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The meeting also focused on Georgia's role in the region and future steps that will help deepen economic, inter-ethnic, and cultural cooperation between the two countries. The meeting held at the Congress of the Kingdom of Spain was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani, Davit Songhulashvili, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Sectoral Economics and Economic Policy, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Kingdom of Spain Ilia Giorgadze.
