The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili met with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, within the framework of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting took place in New York in the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in a face-to-face and expanded format.

The Prime Minister recalled his state visit to Turkey and thanked President Erdoğan for his high-level hospitality.

The conversation focused on the developments in the region. According to Irakli Gharibashvili, the most important goal of Georgia is to support peace and stability in the region, and the country is ready to fulfill its peacekeeping function for long-term peace and stability in the Caucasus region.

The talks focused on the agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan through the mediation of the Prime Minister of Georgia and the involvement of the United States, as a result of which the citizens of Armenia were released, and maps of the mined territories were handed over to Azerbaijan. It was noted that this agreement is a good basis for further cooperation between the neighbors.

Irakli Gharibashvili stressed the special efforts of President Erdoğan further to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries. The focus was on the priority of expanding political and economic ties between the two countries. Hopefully, the next meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council will be held by the end of the year.

The parties discussed the further deepening of trade and economic relations. It was noted that joint projects of regional importance are a good example of effective strategic partnership, sustainable development, and a reliable partnership between Georgia and Turkey. During the meeting, attention was also paid to multilateral cooperation. It was noted that great importance is attached to the format of trilateral cooperation - Georgia-Turkey-Azerbaijan, within which the parties will discuss a wide range of issues in different sectors.

The Prime Minister reiterated and thanked President Erdoğan for his personal support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister wrote a memorable text in the guest book of the Turkish House in New York.
