Irakli Kobakhidze elected as Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The voting took place in Strasbourg as part of the Council of Europe's winter session. Irakli Kobakhidze is the head of the delegation.

Nineteen candidates were nominated for the position of Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The lawmakers objected to the candidacy of Pyotr Tolstoy, a representative of the Russian delegation. The representative of the Ukrainian delegation, Maria Mezentseva, criticized Tolstoy's candidacy for using hate speech and anti-Semitic statements.

A secret ballot planned at the Assembly to appoint Tolstoy. The rest of the candidates were approved.

As of November 27, Georgia is chairing the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

Davit Zalkaliani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in the framework of Georgia's chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, will address the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly in Strasbourg.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Zalkaliani will present a report to the Parliamentary Assembly. The Minister will also discuss the priorities of Georgia's chairmanship, address critical issues at the Council of Europe and answer questions from members of the Parliamentary Assembly.

Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia, will deliver a speech at the Parliamentary Assembly tomorrow.
