''Georgia plays an important role in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, and I want to thank you for this,'' Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, said after the meeting with Georgian Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani.

In Colomina's words, at the meeting with the Georgian minister, they discussed regional security prospects. ''I have already been in Azerbaijan and am visiting Armenia tomorrow. Lots of issues are yet to be discussed. I thanked the minister for the initiative put forward by Georgia to hold political consultations between the three countries of the South Caucasus,'' Colomina said. 

The NATO Secretary General's Special Representative has also emphasized security challenges in the region, saying that Georgia and NATO are concerned about Russia's foreign policy course based on use of force.

Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, has visited Georgia within the framework of the regional tour.

Javier Colomina will also meet Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, PM Irakli Gharibashvili, Chairperson of Parliament Kakha Kuchava, Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze, and representatives of civil society.
