"If a person committed a crime, according to the law he should pay for it," - Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of the capital, told reporters regarding the arrest of Gigi Ugulava.
Kaladze explained that his comment that the Court convicted Ugulava twice in the same case was a mistake.
"You know that the prosecutor's office had an appealed case, it was not closed, and the Supreme Court made the decision," Kakha Kaladze said.
The Mayor noted that he made the wrong statement a few days ago when he said that Gigi Ugulava pleaded guilty.
"It was my mistake, I explained it in a wrong way," Kaladze said.
The Supreme Court found Gigi Ugulava guilty. The Court sentenced the former Mayor of Tbilisi to three years in prison for embezzling funds.
