Even after centuries, I admire King Tamar, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said.
In Degnan's words, Georgia learned through experience that women can lead, with their leadership benefiting the country.
"In Georgia, which has a long history of women taking on leadership roles in government, we have funded programs to further advance their participation in politics and stand ready to continue these programs to ensure all women feel comfortable and prepared running for office," the Ambassador declared.
The Ambassador's statement has been posted on the website of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.
