Late Georgian politician Gia Chanturia would have turned 61 today, on August 19.
Priests held a service for his soul in Kashueti Church. Gia Chanturia's family members and friends gathered in the temple.
"Giorgi Chanturia, first of all, was the person who took on the biggest mission and revived the organization established by Ilia Chavchavadze. He restored the values that formed the basis of Georgia's independence. Unfortunately, his murder was not just the murder of one prominent leader. All this led us to a dead-end that we have been in for 30 years. Giorgi was a special person who could stand up to defend the country and its people," said the People's Party Mamuka Giorgadze.
Gia Chanturia was shot dead in a car near his house on December 3, 1994.
