Lelo files statement with the prosecutor's office regarding secret recordings

The members of "Lelo" submitted an official statement to the Prosecutor General's Office and demanded an investigation into the secret recording published on March 6.

As Kakha Kozhoridze, a member of Lelo, said, if the prosecutor's office does not launch an investigation into the case, it would be a direct indication of their obedience to the ruling party.

"Members and lawyers of "Lelo" came here to remind the Georgian Prosecutor's Office of their obligation. The Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia directly states that disseminating information through the media, which contains signs of a crime, directly imposes an obligation on the prosecutor's office to launch an investigation. In this case, not launching an investigation by the prosecutor's office means disobeying Georgian law and declaring obedience to the ruling party," Kakha Kozhoridze said.

On March 6, TV Pirveli published the alleged telephone recordings of Bera Ivanishvili, Irakli Gharibashvili, and Anzor Chubinidze.
