Director General of Council of European, Maria Painchinovich Burich is in Georgia. The meeting ceremony took place at Tbilisi International Airport. The ceremony was attended by the permanent representative of Georgia at Council of Europe and head persons of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The visit is connected to the appointment of Georgia a chair country of the Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe.
“As you have already known Georgia is becoming a chair country of the Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe starting from November 27, 2019 which will last until May 15, 2020. The aim of the visit is to learn about the country priorities and set concrete plans for cooperation. Activities and events of various levels are planned for the period of the country chairmanship which will widely present Georgia in Strasburg”, said permanent representative of Georgia at Council of Europe, Irakli Giviashvili.
Maria Paichinovich-Burich will meet with the President of Georgia, Prime Minister, Head of the Parliament, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Head of Georgian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The topics of mutual cooperation and future plans between Georgia and the Council of Europe will be reviewed.
Presentation of a jubilee coin created in celebration of 70-year anniversary of European Council and 20-year anniversary of integration of Georgia into the Council will take place. The official presentation of 2020-2023 Action Plan of the Council of Europe in relation to Georgia will be held.
Director General of Council of Europe will leave Georgia tomorrow. Official ceremony of passing the chairmanship to Georgia will take place on November 27 in Strasburg.
