Nika Melia, the chairperson of the United National Movement, recalled the day of his arrest during the ongoing trial in the city court and said that former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, who had resigned in protest of Melia's arrest, was in fact in favor of his arrest until the last moment.
Melia recalled the statement of the chairperson of the ruling party. According to him, Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the resigned Prime Minister supported Melia's arrest until the last moment and resigned shortly before his arrest.
"Kobakhidze admitted that he and Gakharia agreed, I should have been caught, but he changed his mind in the last moment," Melia said.
The substantive hearing of the case of Nikanor Melia, the chairperson of the "National Movement," is underway in the city court. The judge rejected all of the motions of Melia's lawyers.
