Georgian ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili has addressed the public from Rustavi prison.

The former president's lawyer Nika Gvaramia read the letter after leaving his prison cell.

''Winning in the runoff elections is crucial for both the country and for me to enjoy freedom. Everywhere, in every residential area where the runoff has been scheduled, we must be watchful to shatter Ivanishvili's plans. I give my full support to the party head Nika Melia and all our candidates winning in the first round. We must gain victory in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Rustavi, Telavi, Khashuri, Tsalenjikha, Senaki, Poti, Tskhaltubo, Martvili, and other municipalities in which we have not only mayoral candidates but majoritarian MPs also. Recounting votes is paramount as the Georgian Dream is losing its ground almost everywhere. Despite inequality, we must exhaust all resources at hand and all legal tools available. Additionally, we must get ready for pre-election protests.

I can feel your support daily despite them trying to isolate me here completely and delaying the court hearing. They are waiting for me to lose strength because of hunger not to be able to attend the court hearing. I have not seen anyone stooping to this even in the most underdeveloped countries.

Although they are employing different disgraceful methods against me, your support is increasing daily, and what we need now is patience, resoluteness, and vigilance,'' the letter reads.
