Mikheil Saakashvili releases another appeal from Rustavi prison. The third president responds to the current events in Kazakhstan and the deployment of Russian troops there.
Saakashvili writes about the importance of the opposition in Georgia.
"This is what happens when you declare yourself part of the Russian sphere of influence and distance yourself from the West.
A large-scale invasion of Kazakhstan by Russian troops operating under the auspices of the Collective Security Treaty Organization began today, where people revolted against social injustice, corruption, and election fraud.
This means that the Kazakh leadership will kill its own people with soldiers from Russia, Armenia, and other neighbors.
Do we want such a scenario for our country? Of course not, and if not - we must learn to put aside all grievances and personal ambitions and achieve the goal through joint, mass, and continuous action, using all legitimate levers.
Otherwise, our people, 80% of whom are already living in poverty, will either starve to death or have to leave our country.
It is impossible with these utility tariffs, these prices on medicines and products, in conditions when labor has no price, simply by honest work, feed the family, prolong existence.
And in a situation where the defeated group in at least the last two elections remains illegitimate in the cabinets and makes open statements against the West, no one will remain our defender if we do nothing.
Georgia has not had such a strong opposition spark since the 1990s as it does now.
This time it is the duty of politicians, activists, just active citizens to turn this numerous protest stream into a powerful, wide river and let go of everything that prevents us from living a dignified life in our own country and protects our children from the future," Mikheil Saakashvili wrote.
