"I believe that my mission has been fulfilled. I made the decision to quit politics finally. I am leaving the post of party chairperson as well as my party and returning to my pre-2011 private lifestyle," Bidzina Ivanishvili writes in the letter spread.
He said the ruling team has no alternative force and will successfully replace his hard work and authority.
"The ruling team is really the best one among all political actors today.
Therefore, I believe that my mission has been accomplished.
In just a few weeks, I will be sixty-five years old, and this is one of the most important factors in the decision-making process to end my political career. Inspired by the youth, this step of mine will not only not weaken but strengthen and make the ruling party more motivated, encourage our supporters, and make the government more energetic.
I am leaving politics proud, victorious, and grateful to the people. People were able to see the efforts I made only in the interests of the country and the state. I am sure that the Georgian people will also appreciate my current move, which is dictated by the same interests that made me become a politician," the letter reads.
