Representatives of non-governmental organizations have expressed extreme concern over the announced sanctions against opposition parties.

A statement from fifteen NGOs said government rhetoric was seen as a threat to opposition parties.

"Such statements once again indicate that the government is not properly aware of its responsibility in resolving the current crisis, and its rhetoric is perceived as a threat to the opposition parties - to act following government directives so as not to be a victim to sanctions of the ruling party," the statement said.

The following non-governmental organizations sign the statement:

Georgian Democratic Initiative (GDI);

Transparency International-Georgia (TI Georgia);

Institute for Democracy and Safe Development (IDSD);

Media Development Foundation (MDF);

Institute for Tolerance and Diversity (TDI);

Georgia's Reforms Associates (GRASS);

Human Rights Center (HRC);

Open Society Foundation (OSGF);

International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED);

Partnership for Human Rights (PHR);

Sapari;

Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI);

Vulnerable Groups Rehabilitation Initiative (RIVG);

Rights Georgia;

Governance Monitoring Center.

A package of bills against parliamentary sabotage has been initiated in the Parliament. According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the actions of radical opposition parties, which are engaged in sabotage, need to be addressed.
