"Journalists were human rights activists today. By working heroically, they prevented the worst developments and documented very important events, violent acts," the Public Defender of Georgia, Nino Lomjaria, stated about it at the briefing.
The Public Defender called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to start studying the video footage of the developments today and identify the perpetrators.
According to the ombudsman, the statement of the Prime Minister was categorically unacceptable to her.
"In the near future, they should provide us with information on the measures taken to identify these people and bring them to justice. Law enforcement agencies have not responded appropriately to any of these incidents in previous years. I think that this attitude encouraged today's actions," said Nino Lomjaria.
