The Public Defender of Ukraine has arrived in Georgia. Ukrainian Rada High Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova plans to meet with former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
As Denisova told reporters, she has sent all the necessary documents to the relevant services and is waiting for permission from the Ministry of Justice to meet with Mikheil Saakashvili.
"Our goal is to get accurate information from doctors and lawyers about the seriousness of Mikheil Saakashvili's health condition. We are sorry that a Ukrainian citizen is in such a situation," the ombudsman said.
Lyudmyla Denisova notes that what is happening to the third president of Georgia is torture.
"This is torture and inhuman treatment that does not fit into any framework. People have the right to life, which is violated," said the Public Defender.
