Opposition political parties and leaders have issued a joint statement condemning the attack on journalist Vakho Sanaia:
"Journalist Vakho Sanaia was attacked this morning. We believe that this is the result of an extremely dangerous and provocative environment created by the Ivanishvili regime.
Violence against opponents or critical citizens, impunity, and encouragement of this violence, have become the face of the Georgian Dream. It is especially dangerous when violence occurs against a journalist.
Organizing or encouraging violence by the authorities leads to the radicalization of an already polarized environment. The task of responsible political parties is to reduce these polarizations and not the other way around.
We wish health and encouragement to Vakho Sanaia. We demand a speedy investigation into this case and the punishment of the perpetrators," the information mentions.
Journalist Vakho Sanaia and his wife's relative were attacked. Three people have been arrested on charges of gang violence against two or more persons.
