PM issues his first comment on journalist Gabunia's case

The State Security Service prevented the perpetration of the gravest crime, PM Giorgi Gakharia responded to Gabunia's case. In Gakharia's words, the prime responsibility of law enforcers is to investigate the crime, which was intended to be committed with potential perpetrators aiming to eliminate the very well-known journalist in the shortest possible time.

"Information on this case must be provided to the public openly and transparently. This is of utmost significance, especially when we all understand that even much less serious crimes than this result in political speculations. We all understand that against this backdrop, when political temperatures are rising because of upcoming elections, everyone will attempt to make use of this case and pursue their political interests. This is a fact, and each of our words, actions, or comments may prevent the investigation from running smoothly. We should maintain our composure and let law enforcement officers do their job as well and as soon as possible. Only then will we have the opportunity to freely express our opinions on this issue," Gakharia declared.

Yesterday the Mtavari Arkhi TV Company released a statement saying that some individuals planned to liquidate television presenter Giorgi Gabunia. Later, the State Security Service also released information on this issue.
