The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili met with Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, during his visit to Brussels.

The Prime Minister noted that the government has an ambitious plan for Georgia to make a formal application for full membership in the EU in 2024 and that political and economic reforms will continue on the road to this path. After the face-to-face meeting, the conversation got expanded. The Vice PM of Georgia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belgium, and the Head of the Georgian Mission to the EU Natali Sabanadze joined the meeting.

The politicians talked about the challenges and difficulties created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister and the European Commissioner discussed the current political situation in Georgia. Irakli Gharibashvili noted that the government is ready for a result-oriented political dialogue, which will facilitate the constructive management and de-escalation of the processes.
