The President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili congratulated the population on the Independence Day of Georgia.
The President thanked the public and the Defense Forces. She also thanked the medics and members of the Georgian government for the effective fight against the virus.
"Congratulations on Independence Day! Today is an unusual May 26. The public cannot fully participate in the celebration of Independence Day with the Defense Forces. It is due to the crisis situation we have. But despite everything, we are here to express the significance of this day.
We must always remember that the guarantee of Georgia's independence is our defense forces and our society together with them. During the crisis, our country set an example of resilience and success in the world. It is a victory for all of us. We continue the fight against the invisible enemy, and the war is not over. When we discuss the success we achieved, the role of professionalism becomes very clear.
On the one hand, there is a government that timely implemented actions; on the other hand, we have epidemiologists and physicians with an effective strategy to combat the virus. Our soldiers performed their duties where necessary. Society has shown its maturity and love of the country. Professionalism has won the trust of the society, and it became the basis of the first success," Zurabishvili said.
