Prime Minister to attend the civil funeral of 13 perished in Abkhazia

Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, is attending the civil funeral ceremony of thirteen persons, perished in Abkhazian armed conflict, at Sameba Cathedral.

The Head of the Government, together with the Ministers and Tbilisi Mayor, paid tribute to the people perished in the armed conflict and expressed condolence to their families.

Giorgi Gakharia mentioned that each of the perished persons demonstrated the exemplary self-sacrifice; they are heroes. Their graves remained unknown for years; it only became possible to identify and bury the bodies today.

On Prime Minister’s assessment, the Georgian-Abkhazian coordination mechanism on identification and transfer of the bodies of perished people is working for years and represents a significant platform for the final solution of the problem. Giorgi Gakharia thanked Abkhazian fraternal people for it.

The Prime Minister expressed particular gratitude to the Red Cross International Partnership and everybody who made even minor contributions to the event.
