New regulations will enter into force in order to reduce the emission of harmful substances, with stiffer sanctions being imposed for air pollution, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili declared.
Mr. Davitashvili has elaborated upon the amendments planned to be introduced to the Law of Georgia on Ambient Air Protection and Administrative Offences Code of Georgia, according to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
"We are making efforts to adjust the Georgian Ambient Air legislation to that of the European. New regulations are set to be enforced to improve the existing situation and minimize the emission of harmful substances. Stiffer penalties will also be introduced. Enterprises should meet modern standards, and their functioning may not pose a threat to the environment and people," Davitashvili said.
