The Georgian Dream party has issued a statement saying that they stand ready to discuss the issue of increasing a 40% voter mandate threshold.

The statement goes on to say that the Georgian Dream constitutes a decision-making force, and it enjoys the public's support, with the already conducted democratic elections being a clear testimony to this.

''We want to show our position with regard to Giorgi Rurua, who is neither a politician nor a political actor who can dramatically affect the current political processes. The inclusion of the issue of his release from custody in the agreement between the parties constitutes an example of harsh political intervention in the administration of justice. In view of the status quo and our partners' attitude, we will hold back from showing our critical position if the President of Georgia pardons him.

Likewise, our decision in relation to inmates the opposition wants us to release from prison is based on the implication that any political intervention in criminal cases will be excluded in the future.

We are also faced with two other ongoing criminal cases, which are the so-called Khazaradze-Japaridze's and N. Gvaramia's cases; people involved in one of these cases which have already been investigated, with criminal proceedings underway created a political party and hid behind a political status; a person involved in the other case (with criminal proceedings also underway), who served as deputy prosecutor general under the previous government, founded a television and is now seeking immunity as a journalist. These cases must be assessed legally, with law experts involved in the process. We believe that in this case, all subjective views will be put aside by our public, and questions about whether these cases are politically motivated will disappear.

Obviously, the 2/3 principle in the agreement must be specified and formulated in accordance with the European practices so that all political interventions are ruled out.

Considering that we signed the first document presented by the EU-led delegation, and we stand ready to discuss the updated document, we will not introduce any more corrections to the presented conditions after we sign it.

We have ended negotiation on conditions, and we call upon the opposition to act responsibly,'' the statement reads.

On 18 April, European Council President Charles Michel presented a new document to Georgian MPs, which comprises five points.
